Found Eats is a San Francisco based, online social marketplace that helps customers easily discover and purchase specialty and gourmet food products from thousands of small food artisans all across the United States. The site brings together the very best independent food makers from across the US to sell their products in one place. They also make buying more social. Customers can see what their friends like, follow and get updates from their favorite tastemakers i.e food bloggers and chefs, and they can share inspirations like recipes and food experiences.
Building a Gourmet Food Marketplace
Found Eats started out with two co-founders who both lacked technical skills. They needed a partner they could trust to help define, estimate and build their two-sided marketplace. Since they couldn't do it themselves, they approached Spiral Scout, a web development agency in San Francisco to partner with them to build out their entire platform from start to launch. The work included a powerful search engine, custom payment processing options for users, shipping and tracking systems for buyers and sellers, shipping logistic options, e-commerce tracking/reporting and accounting software for tax purposes.
What the client said
Sibyl, Founder of Found Eats, "We have worked with Spiral Scout for the past several months in building our site and they have done a phenomenal job. Originally I heard about them through a friend who worked with them in building her site. She had only great things to say. Subsequently, working with them directly, I've witnessed for myself their professionalism and skill. The Spiral Scout team is very responsive and quick to iterate changes. When we run into challenges, they're helpful in thinking through problems. Lots of dev teams will just deliver the bare minimum, but with Spiral Scout, their level of expertise paired with their commitment to excellent work product has made us extremely happy."
