PROJECT FORTRESS: AI-POWERED LEGAL DEAL MANAGEMENT

Client

Project Fortress is a SaaS product designed to assist corporate attorneys in managing their deals using Salesforce as the core platform and leveraging their company's historical deal data and documentation. Operating in the Legal Tech industry, Project Fortress targets large law firms, specifically corporate attorneys involved in deal management and helps them quickly and securely get more from their data.

Challenge

Project Fortress identified a significant gap in how business intelligence (BI) and artificial intelligence (AI) could be leveraged to enhance deal management within the legal industry. Traditional AI models struggled with the unstructured nature of data, resulting in inefficient processing and inaccurate outputs. The client aimed to integrate a sophisticated AI-agent driven solution that could handle the complexities of unstructured legal data while providing accurate, real-time responses and automating various tasks.

Key pain points included:

  • Data Complexity: The unstructured and intricate nature of legal data made it difficult for traditional AI solutions to deliver accurate results.
  • Manual Effort: A significant amount of manual, expensive intervention was required to manage, query, and analyze deal-related data.
  • Integration Challenges: The solution needed to be deeply integrated with existing systems like Salesforce while making sure there was data integrity, security, and compliance.

Strategy

Spiral Scout led the project from conceptualization through to full implementation, working closely with the Project Fortress major stakeholders to understand their unique challenges and goals and design a solution that could be rapidly tested. Our approach involved developing an AI solution based on AI agents and multi-agent flows rather than a simple genAI chatbot or co-pilot. We had previously developed an agentic framework called Wippy AI which we used as the underlying solution for Project Fortress. This allowed for a more robust and flexible system that could manage complex tasks, handle unstructured data, and provide detailed insights. Agents could also create memories to do tasks faster in the future. 

Key aspects of our strategy included:

  1. Multi-Agent Architecture: The solution employed multiple AI agents, each specializing in different aspects of deal management, such as data retrieval, analysis, task automation, and document processing. These agents worked in coordination with other Agents to deliver comprehensive, context-aware results and were self-adapting.
  2. System Integration: A key focus was on integrating these AI agents with Salesforce, so we could make sure that all data remained consistent and that Salesforce continued to act as the 'source of truth' for all legal data. We passed numerous legal and security audits during the discovery and development phase with Project Fortress's end clients. 
  3. Advanced Security Measures: Given the sensitivity of legal data, the solution included advanced security protocols, including role-based access controls and data obfuscation techniques during transfer and storage.

  4. Seamless Salesforce Integration: The AI agents were embedded into the Project Fortress Salesforce environment, working as an extension of the existing system. This required meticulous synchronization of data between Salesforce and the AI agents to ensure that all operations remained seamless and accurate.
