About the Project
Rueblur set out to rethink social media. Their platform encourages users to rate and react to content, earn Ruescore rewards, and share without being controlled by opaque algorithms. But when they came to us, they had more vision than stability.Their MVP was barely holding together, and they needed immediate help to stabilize a legacy mobile app. Features were incomplete, the user experience was inconsistent, and the technical debt was growing faster than their user base. Rueblur required more than a few fixes. They needed a rebuild with a clear path to growth.
Objectives
- Stabilize and refactor the core product without starting over.
- Introduce revenue models and live-streaming support.
- Equip Rueblur’s team with moderation and admin controls.
- Create a smoother, more intuitive mobile experience.
- Reduce release friction and make iteration easier.

Challenges
Solutions
Inherited MVP = Technical Headaches
Rueblur’s MVP was built fast and cheap. By the time we joined, it was riddled with bugs, bloated with unused code, and structured in a way that made new features risky to ship.
Our Approach
We started with a technical audit and built a punch list. From there, we broke the codebase into smaller, modular components and replaced legacy dependencies. We introduced CI/CD pipelines and cleaned up the release workflow. The app became faster to build on and easier to trust.
Missing Monetization and Live Streaming
To succeed with Gen Z creators, Rueblur needed more than likes and comments. They needed built-in monetization and real-time engagement tools.
Our Approach
We added subscription tiers, donation features, and real-time streaming with interactive chat. Payments were handled through Stripe and tied to user rewards. Live sessions could now drive real value for both users and the platform.
No Tools to Manage or Moderate
Content moderation was an afterthought in the MVP. As usage grew, Rueblur had no way to respond to bad actors or enforce quality.
Our Approach
We built a low-code admin panel using ToolJet, a lightweight, powerful, and easy solution for non-engineers to use. Moderators could flag content, verify users, and manage reports, all without touching the codebase.
UX Friction Across the Board
Users were getting lost. Screens felt disjointed. The experience didn’t match the energy of Rueblur’s audience.
Our Approach
Spiral Scout designers redesigned the mobile experience from the ground up using Figma, aligning navigation, styles, and interactions. The app went from piecemeal to polished, without losing its edge.

Our Project strategy
Overview of the critical steps that shaped the project’s success and addressed its key challenges.

Initial Code Audit & Discovery
We began by assessing the condition of the existing codebase to determine if it could be fixed, focusing on restoring the Dashboard’s core features and functionalities. We reviewed the MVP, audited the tech stack, and performed a discovery session upfront around a product roadmap with the founder. This phase clarified where we could move fast and where we had to tread carefully. It lasted approximately 2–3 weeks. We began by assessing the condition of the existing codebase to determine if it could be fixed, focusing on restoring the Dashboard’s core features and functionalities.

Development & Integration
Development progressed in two-week sprints, focusing on backend improvements, UX enhancements, and feature integrations. We executed parallel development streams: stabilizing and refactoring core systems while building new features like live-streaming and payments. Admin tools were developed externally using ToolJet to accelerate delivery without impacting the core application.

Operational Hygiene
We moved Rueblur to a monorepo with CI/CD pipelines, standardized development practices, and used Jira/Confluence to keep everyone aligned.
Project Results
The implementation of Spiral Scout’s solution delivered several key outcomes that significantly advanced Rueblur’s platform maturity and readiness for growth.
Key performance indicators showed a 3x improvement in feed load times and a 60%+ reduction in moderation overhead.
The platform’s stability and new feature set directly supported a 2.3x increase in user base post-launch, with thousands of new app installs across iOS and Android in just a couple of weeks and high ratings in the app store.
Rueblur’s journey reflects what’s possible when vision meets the right technical partnership. Spiral Scout didn’t just deliver code; we brought project structure, clarity to the founder’s ambition, and momentum to a platform ready to challenge the norms of social media. This transformation empowered Rueblur to shift from surviving to scaling, with creators and users now firmly at the center of the experience.
We don’t just write code. We build products you can grow with.
